NewReformation
That is unfortunately true. For example, Satanics make a mockery of the Catholic Mass. They mock St. Peter's crucifixtion by perverting the up-side-down cross. They also (if I'm not mistaken) try and steal the Eucharist to desecrate it in their Satanic Mass. Many pagans tend to mock, degrade, and pervert the Church's practices. It doesn't mean the Church encourages them or practices them. Most Protestants tend to believe that the Catholic Church puts their stamp of approval on these things. I used to know a missionary to some third-world country who told me about a time when the people of this country had a mass wedding ceremony. They had a voodoo priest and a Catholic priest both simultaneously officiating the wedding ceremony and the Catholic priest baptised all of the couples even tho none of them converted. I wasn't there, so I can't vouch for the accuracy of this, but this fella was a pretty stand up guy, and I don't really have any reason to doubt his word. cmotherofpirl
Setting up some straw men to knock over? Poor old Jack Chick isn't sophisticated enough for you? He does have a pretty good book for sale on his site, written by a former Catholic, avoids all the "bashing" and just laid out the differences ... that one is so much better than the "Death Cookie" tract. Grin. Now how about we explore how Voodoo and Syncretic Catholicm is alive and well around the world? That one might be a little harder to defend. Oh, and you know, the evolution of Mary to the female diety [i know I know...it really isn't so, but it is, and don't make us prove that all over again] DOES have Chick looking kinda right on that one. We have a list of Mary prayers that are used around the world if you want to dispute that little fact. And all those apparations, I'm jealous, how come only Catholics get apparations? It is like having your own personal little "extra" that the rest of Christianity doesn't get. Unfair I say, unfair. We need some apparitions for us too, maybe at the next Promise Keepers rally some vision will appear on the Coke machine, or some kids outside the arena can start things off for the rest of us, trapped in there listening to the SAME OLD "BORING MESSAGE" that Jesus came to save the world. Think that one will be possible? Gee Bruce its posts like this that all prots a bad name
Bruce S
Oh, good night!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here we go AGAIN!!! I thought we got all of this cleared up on the Christianity.com thread! Leave it to Bruse to bring it back up. You see, Bruce, I would have debated this on your site, but I was kicked out because I didn't have an avatar of a pastor or the Bible or something like that. My avatar depicted the CRUCIFIXION. I guess that was too much for over there. And the fact that you actually think good ol' Jack deserves anything more than a swift kick in the rear is very worrisome to me. someone who does nothing but spend his entire life in the utter clutches of hate is not of God. As for this Alberto Rivera? http://web.ask.com/redir?bpg=http%3a%2f%2f...3.HTM&qte=0&o=0 Enough said. Bruce...your site's own Statement of Faith says that anyone claiming to have direct revelations from ZGod or anything of that nature is obviously a heretic and a blasphemer and shouldn't be believed. Maybe that's why. Bruce...your site's own Statement of Faith says that anyone claiming to have direct revelations from ZGod or anything of that nature is obviously a heretic and a blasphemer and shouldn't be believed. Maybe that's why. ?? My site? Duh? I participate on five sites, that site you mention is only one where I go, and I'm just a regular poster, not a moderator, nor owner, just a normal guy posting. I don't agree with the way they run the site, it is their site, not mine, I actually do own a site, a very active discussion site, but it has nothing to do with Christianity, so I'm familiar with site management, rules, and moderation issues. I personally have chided the site management over there privately for not allowing the Pagans...woops, Catholics [tweaking ya here] full participation. I would allow it if I owned that site, I think that lively discussion benefits all. What I think, more than anything, is the massive PROOF TEXT DUMPS that Catholics love to do, they really rarely engage in debate, but almost always start massive text dumps, as you see here, and frankly, even the management HERE is telling you not to always do that. If you got banned there, it was NOT of my doing, I WOULD HAVE NOT DONE THAT, I disagree with that policy, and have said so. So keep ME out of your beesh with the way another site is run, not of my doing, sorry. And what does Alberto have to do with me? I've never quoted him, referenced him, nor used him, strawman. Sorry again. Frankly, Chick is Chick, he is interesting, I do like the fact that he is out there swinging, but his approach isn't that effective with thinking people, his cartoons are good for the non reader, and the world is going that way sadly, but for those who can READ, he falls far short. Again, another strawman. Sorry. Edited December 31, 2003 by Bruce S
DojoGrant
And what does Alberto have to do with me? I've never quoted him, referenced him, nor used him, strawman. Oh really? Well, you wrote this: He does have a pretty good book for sale on his site, written by a former Catholic, avoids all the "bashing" and just laid out the differences ... that one is so much better than the "Death Cookie" tract. Grin. If you wouldn't be so mind-numbingly vague with your references, we might not have to guess. Alberto Rivera is one of the most heavily publicized "former Catholics" that has books published by Chick. Instead of just jumping all over people and calling it a "strawman," I think the PROPER thing to do would be to actually NAME this individual and the NAME of the book you were referring to. Bruce S
Understanding Roman Catholicism by Rick Jones © 1995 by Rick Jones Was the book, NOT Alberto, I have looked at Alberto, sounds fishy to me, actually sounds like a disinformation campaign, CIA or Jesuit style. Reverse psychology at work.
