EcceNovaFacioOmni
Is it licit to create "highlight videos" to be distributed, even if no profit is being made? I am a big football fan and people make highlight videos and post them on the web, I just want to know if these things are illegal or not. Even I made a video I'm sure many of you have seen using Fox News and EWTN footage that covered the election of Benedict XVI. I know I can tape stuff legally and watch it whenever I want, but can I give that tape to somebody else at no cost? Are things like this a violation of broadcast copyright laws? journeyman
If you taped it off a broadcast, the original broadcaster copyrighted the material. Most of them prohibit any further distribution without permission. Your own videotapes of an event would be different.
