your vocal cords don't change days. You have to practice or you will get bad, but they don't change in days.

thread resurrection! heck yes. ^_^

choir is fun! I was in choir at school this past year, but since it takes up a whole credit each year, I'm skipping this coming year. otherwise, I wouldnt' get any other electives. but I'm in choir at church, too.

I can be an alto or a second soprano. I'm not quite a first soprano, though, unfortunately... :(
I sing mezzo-soprano mainly...which means in choir, I get shoved in either soprano or alto, depending on where they need me.
Story of my life...lol. I didn't really develop into my mezzo-soprano until my first year of college, and until then I was just a first soprano in high school, meaning melody and occasionally the higher register...haha. I've been in choir forever, high school I did show choir and then in college I moved onto classical and sacred music. This past semester I was "directing" a sort-of schola for the Austria program for FUS as a part of music ministry...that was fun :D But yeah, I usually get put in whatever part we need more of at the time.

I was in my church's choir for two years. And I've been in chorus since middle school. I'm in show choir now. Most people don't know about show choir though. It's mostly popular in the Mid-West. If you go on youtube and search "Clinton Attache," that would give you an idea of what show choir is.
i sing where ever i am asked to sing.... i can do bass, baritone, tenor, alto, and i've even been known to sing a little soprano every now and then... you know, just to mock the other ladies i was singing with!
Hahaha... I've heard of your kind... I can sing alto at best. When I took a vocal class at my school, I was the only guy so the teacher had me singing all falsetto at one point. One day, I cracked and could not do it. Anywho, for those who don't know, I'll break down the vocal scale

Soprano - High voice, usually melody
Alto - middle voice for female. Some males mix falsetto in here sometimes
Tenor - High male voice, sometimes low female
Baritone - sort of between tenor and bass. For the voices that can't really do either
Bass - For the low voices. Hopefully male... :hehehe:

Edit: btw, I am primarily a band guy. I played clarinet in concert band, and Saxophone in the Jazz band. Sometimes a bit of flute in jazz, but not much. I sing with a choir outside of school. We do a Latin Mass once a month.
