Guest Anthony M
Ok, Im going to be going to confession today and I have a question about gambling. Well, I use to gamble all the time, on sports, poker and even went to a casino a few times. Anyways, I am not gambling for money any longer, but I am playing with a thing called FPP(Frequent Player Points) which I accumulated on pokerstars.com when I was gambling for money. I was just wondering if gambling with fpp would also be considered a mortal sin b/c they can be used for prizes and things? Thanks
cappie
From the Catechism: 2413 Games of chance (card games, etc.) or wagers are not in themselves contrary to justice. They become morally unacceptable when they deprive someone of what is necessary to provide for his needs and those of others. The passion for gambling risks becoming an enslavement. Unfair wagers and cheating at games constitute grave matter, unless the damage inflicted is so slight that the one who suffers it cannot reasonably consider it significant.
