Socrates
This article was amusing/interesting not just because it was an example of a politician pandering to an audience, but because it perfectly illustrates the mess the Dems have created for themselves by their devotion to godless principles (and their pathetic attempt to escape it by outirght lying). Dedication to promoting abortion and homosexuality are written into the Democratic Party platform. The Dem's promotion of these evils cost them big last presidential election because many Christians voted for Bush over Kerry for this very reason. So Dean tries to win them over by blatantly lying about the Dem platform. While the Republicans are not perfect, and individual Republicans may be crooks (as are many Dems), at least their Party platform stands for the right things on these issues. And Bush (while he has his problems) has certainly done more for the pro-life movement than Kerry or a similar Democrat would have (most notably his Supreme Court nominations). Bush's exceptions for rape/incest may be problematic, but he does not outright lie about what the GOP plank says on this issue, and his personal opinions are well known. (The equivelent would be Bush telling a group of pro-abort feminists that the GOP platform supports a woman's "right" to abortion in all circumstances.) The blatantly pro-abortion, pro-immorality stance of the national Democratic Party is something the liberals on here would have us all ignore, by constantly jumping on Republican flaws and repeating mantras like "Bush is pro-choice" and acting as though Dems are really no worse. None of this should distract from the evil reality of the Democratic Party's relentless endorsement of the Culture of Death in all it's forms. Let's work to put good men in office, and improve the GOP where it needs to be improved, but let's not act as though it is just as well to vote for pro-abort/pro-homosexual Dems. Era Might
To say Dean was "lying" would require insight into his soul, which we don't have. I highly doubt he deliberately lied, because it's something he knew he would get slammed on by his own peoples. He was pandering. And in that respect, he is no different from most any other politician, Republican or Democrat. I just don't look at these things the way some people do, which is why they aggravate me to no end. I don't see "Dean-Democrat-Liberal". I see "Dean-Politician-American". I just don't see things in terms of partisan politics, but in terms of good/evil, right/wrong. Maybe that's a flaw in my social outlook, but politicians to me are all pieces of garlic in the frying pan. Some are more bitter than others, but at the end of the day, they're all gonna get fried up and thrown into the dish just the same. I see "Bush-Politician-Pro choice". It doesn't matter to me that he's a Republican, and it doesn't matter to me that Dean's a Democrat. I will encourage what they do right, and call them on what they do wrong. I don't care who prays more. I refuse to box myself into their respective platforms. They need to box themselves into MY platform. They're here to serve me, as a citizen of the United States. Tufsoles
I just find it to be with more of the Dems than the Reps in my observations. I'm not discrediting you for noticing the same with reps too.
