Carthusians... wow!

I'm very interested in the Carthusians; I've been dreaming of a visit to the Charterhouse of the Transfiguration in Vermont for over a year. I'm going to seriously pursue it in three years, when I am eligible (I was just confirmed into the Church last month). Whether I am called to such a rare and beautiful vocation, God only knows at this point -- but I do feel drawn to it.

An excellent book on Carthusian life and spirituality is Halfway to Heaven: The Hidden Life of the Sublime Carthusians by Robin Bruce Lockhart.

God bless you, especially if the Carthusian vocation is yours!

I'll add a book recommendation: Hear Our Silence. I read it whilst a teenager and it hugely strengthened my faith and vocation, so much so that I wrote to Parkminster thanking them for allowing the author to share in their life for a little while so that he could write the book. They sent me a brief note on a postcard assuring me of their prayers for my vocation.

Parkminster (the Charterhouse in England) has a website here.

Love and prayers,

PP
