Circle_Master
Circle, dont get all bent out of shape over this. It is typical, not saying you do this all the time, but typical of protestants to come on this board and when we give solid facts and scriptural references to our argument, they always say "I dont care anyway" Or "Its Un-Needed" or "Ill get to it when I have time" and at the same time they use that excuse they reply to 10 different threads, but they dont have time to reply to the important one. then get over your biasness, and don't group me as one. it's these freaking stereotypes which drive protestants nuts. you pick the worst ones, and you hold them to be the truth and never ever reconsider you might be wrong. I like you Circle, you actually dont seem to flame as much as Bruce does. But when we posts facts and scripture references, we dont expect an "I dont believe that" or a "You're wrong" statement unless you give us references as to WHY you think it is wrong. thanks, you aren't too bad yourself. i suggest you apply your standard to catholics as well. you see, i don't expect a good response on most of these threads anymore. i expect a catholic either a) pasting something from a site, b) saying 'nope', c) pasting derogatory remarks like 'how could you be so stupid little protestant' or d) posting a snippet of Scripture extremely out of context. don't say what you want, show me. now, you have done rather well on the responses - this is mostly for other people. Cmom, Anna, and Likos in particular. yea our posts are long, gotta get use to it. reading is good. works on patience, and thats a virtue. I think I've read too much these past few weeks. I do read everything you post, even Likos although I tend to skim his instead. The responses are what takes time, even editting my post after I write it to take out remarks which may be anti-catholic in an attempt to pursue good debate. God bless p.s. i am also sick, so i'm sure that isn't helping my attitude much Edited January 6, 2004 by Circle_Master
BLAZEr
I love it . . . if you can't refute their points, call them bad Christians, tell them they aren't playing nice, rebuke them for not being good Catholics. LOL . . . no one needs to be a good Catholic to make a good point. However, I seriously don't see anyone here acting uncharitable to anyone. Oh yeah, and my grandmother is better than yours. cmotherofpirl
I post scripture that I think is appropriate, you just don't agree with them. Remember we don't live at phatmass, we do actually have lives. Anna has 12 children and a job, I have 3 or 4 or 5 (it depends) kids and take care of a variety of people and houses. We love this site but really cannot sit down for hours and post. Anna and I do the short and medium answers and likos and others give the detailed ones. I think between us all we do cover all the bases.
Circle_Master
I post scripture that I think is appropriate, you just don't agree with them. i am still finding it hard to believe you wrote that. especially after quoting the end of romans 1 and saying it was talking about christians
cmotherofpirl
You post what scripture you think is appropriate and so do I. :)
hyperdulia again
Circle I think your frustrated, because you're the only Protestant here (most of the time) and while I have seen some questionable lines in lots of people's posts, I haven't seen anything on THIS thread that should make you throw your arms up in disgust towards Catholics/Catholicism. We are doing our very best to present Truth as we understand it, please be patient. We are fallen creatures living in a fallen world. Everybody, I'm from the South and well we just don't call people liars down here. It makes me cringe everytime I see someone accused of a lie. Please be kind to your moderator's oddly Southern sensibilities (cussin' don't bother me, but calling someone a liar really makes me blush--Dr Freud, where are you?). Circle_Master
my apologies. yes i was frustrated. if you want a comparison, I see Likos as you see Bruce . Not that I think Bruce is lying, but in our perspectives.
Norseman82
Just because the bible refers to "brothers of Jesus" DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY IMPLY THAT MARY HAD OTHER CHILDREN. There are two other possibilities: 1) "Brothers" may not be the only translation of the Greek, it could mean cousins. 2) The "brothers" could have been children of Joseph from a previous marriage (as has been posted by myself and others previously). Trying to prove it from the bible alone is fruitless as the bible itself does not give the answer definitively. And get well, Circle. FlU? I just got over a bout myself. PatrickRitaMichael
All I know is that I want to be like Jesus and He loved His mother perfectly (see commandment number 4(?) honor thy father and mother) so I want to love her perfectly like He did. (I'm sure it hurts Him to hear us talking so irreverently about His mother) And that includes upholding her honor like everyone else is doing on this thread (good job everyone). I wonder why we find it so hard to believe that anyone could have enough self-control to not have sex, even within a marriage? Why can we not believe that a person would NOT want to have sex when she could? Why do we try to mold the people we are supposed to look up to into OUR image instead of accepting them as they are? Reinterpreting scripture into what we can understand and accept does not guarantee truth. I heard a Pastor's kid once say that sex is good and if Christ got married, He would have had sex. I think that's blasphemy. Why would he say that? Is it so hard to believe that even CHRIST would remain a virgin? Is this how far we've gotten, even Christ is being molded in our image?! (He WAS human after all...) (I'm not saying that all Protestants would say this, btw, but just as an example of the 'that is not important to salvation' thinking). The Perpetual Virginity may not be central to salvation per se (Christ was the absolute center, of course, b/c He's GOD), but Mary is important and I think it's important to know her as she was and not who we want her to be (like us). I want to be like Mary because she loved her Son perfectly and completely. Why should we not venerate a woman who is the perfect Christian? Is not the goal of every Christian to say "let Thy will be done?" and love Jesus with our hearts, souls and minds? I know that she exists and helps me. She's always there when I need her and like any other christian that needs a little prayer and love I ask her to pray for me and help me out when I am weak. I pray to God, too, of course, but it's nice to get other people to pray to God for me. (2 heads are better than one). I know this doesn't exactly deal w/ the thread, but I just wanted to say that she's great whether or not you believe she had kids or not (she didn't, by the way). Oh, as for the apparitions thing, why is that so NOT christian? If you believe that God is a God of the Living, then Mary is alive and well and one with God. It's not like Mary divinely inspires us like the Holy Spirit does (I don't think..) Sometimes God uses messengers to communicate with us (such as the authors of the NT, angels throughout the Bible, and priests today in the Church). I think it's a good way to do things and definitely Christian. Just smile and be happy that God loves us and sends His beloved mother all the way from heaven to talk to us lowly humans :)

Donna
That homemade chicken soup does wonders. Be sure to add garlic, Mr. Master. Peel the clove and crush it with the knife handle before cutting it up.
