hyperdulia again
Ok I'm shooting in the dark here, but I think dUSt said this on the old phorum, back when this was the Super Happy Dialogue corner. If someone came to you and asked you a question about Catholic Teaching or disagreed with a teaching of the Church, would you open up an Encyclopedia and start reading to them? Could we please try to unless it is absolutely necessary refrain from copying and pasting huge lists of material, that we know people probably aren't going to read. This doesn't really teach them anything and it hampers the conversational atmosphere and does not help with evangelization which should aleways be in the back of a Catholic's mind when dealing with a non-Catholic. Just an idea. Take it or leave it.
dUSt
I totally agree and hope everyone "takes it".
cmotherofpirl
But there should be no problem with copying some bits if they are relevant., right. It is a pain, especially if its Church history to get all the names spelled right and the dates exact, or scriptures verses quotws properly. hyperdulia again
Of course Cmom. I think the problem comes up when a discussion loses its naturalness, its flow, from people blasting each other with articles and pre-written material that has little to do with the conversation at hand. Copying a relevant piece of information from Scripture or some other named source is fine. With other things it seems to me to be better to put them in your own words and maybe link to more in-depth info. I know that most of the learning I've done at phatmass hasn't been from having huge amounts of canned text thrown at me. :)

MrsFrozen
I agree, too.. I never read that stuff. It would be nice to just highlight the main points out of those articles. God bless. :)
foundsheep
agreed, good idea Hyper. Guilty as charged. :loco:
cmotherofpirl
THe problem with linking instead of quoting is that some articles are on restricted sites I can't link to. Sometimes you have to post the article so others do not have to pay to read it.
frozencell
I love this idea! How many times have I scrolled right past a paste that takes up half the page? Countless. Good thought Hyper. I like your style!
jasJis
I think hyper is asking for moderation with the cut and paste to avoid bulk spamming. hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation, hyper & moderation. No matter how often I read it, it just seems... odd!?

jasJis
Seems very "God" to me. Murdering adulterer King David = A man after God's heart and a great example of a repentant sinner and the greatest king Isreal had. Dumb, ugly, hick, (and wishy-washy) fisherman = Peter the first Pope. Murdering anti-Catholic zealot, Saul = Paul the Catholic Evangelist hyper = faithful moderator at phatmass We can all have dreams of grandeur when we strive to serve God.
