Paladin D
My mother insists that it's against God's law to eat Pork. His law changes not, so therefore it still remains. Including rounded beards and such. However, circumsision is not required because that was changed in the Bible, and so was Sacrefices on the Altar. I told her they were customs for the Jews, but she says they were part of the Law. Since God doesn't change... they still remain. How do I convince her that eating Pork is not a sin? (Though it's still unhealthy)
Circle_Master
1 Tim 4:4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; Also Acts 10:9-16 - the vision given to Peter Matthew 15:11 "What goes into the mouth does not make anyone unclean; it is what comes out of the mouth that makes someone unclean." Here is a decent resource. I suggest you scan over it http://www.biblestudy.org/basicart/peruncln.html
IXpenguin21
the law of God also says a lot of things that weren't specificaly changed in the bible... “Do not clip your hair at the temples, nor trim the edges of your beard” - Leviticus 19:
Circle_Master
I suggest you read the article. It deals with us receiving a new covenant, and also speaks of things like the verse you posted IXpenguin21.
Paladin D
That is an interesting article Circle_Master. However, I'm mainly curious to what the Catholic Church's perspective is on this issue. But again, thanks for the article.

Circle_Master
can i find church teaching specifically on pork eating? no, but i can't on showering either. I beg to differ. Now please give your Catholic perspective. Mark 7:18-19 18 And He said to them, "Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him, 19 because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thus He declared all foods clean.) Edited December 28, 2003 by Circle_Master
