Domine ut Videam
ok.... I did not want this to become a controversy. I did not want this to become a point of contention, a bashing, a my side is right and i'll never listen to yours. No one seems to be listening to anyone. Why is that? Sure everyone wants to share there opinion....but if no one listens....than what is the point? Really. The reason i posted this was not to start a debate- that was the farthest from my intentions. What i wanted was to find out what people thought, to have a sharing of ideas. Why can't we listen and actually consider the ideas of those opposed to us? Do we always have to shoot them down without ever considering them? I just, it bothers me, because no one is open to learning about what others think and why they think that....all they seem to care about is their own opinion and that others listen to it- and yet they themselves won't listen. So, I am actually sorry that i ever started this thread. Because this isn't what i wanted to come about. People seem to be very close-minded....and...i don't know. Everyone, every single person who has posted here, I think has honsetly had very good things to say. And i agree with most of it.... i don't know. I guess you could say i'm just not feelin the Trinitarian Love....the community that i used to feel. And that makes me sad. But thanks everyone for your awesome points, you all made a lot of sense. -Yours in Christ Lauren

YMNolan
I dearly love lifeteen whenI frist joined thier site in 2003. I thought this LT thing was great. I went to a few masses and everything. But with in the last couple of months. I get to the Fourms on the site the sometimes kids are just Mean and bicker towards eachothers and(some) seem very liberal in thier veiws of the chucrh and morality and do not always support the churhc's teachings. Plus every time I go to the mass I feel like I am a blob just singing and being entetianed( like some have mentioned in this thread.) I like My Priests Homilies during regular mass and I like reguilar mass more. There could be a possible explantion for it. I am getting to alttle old for LT ( age 20) and in college. I do realize it is helping some teens discover and come closer to their faith and be in spirit but I find this Phat mass thing to be suited for Hardcore Catholics like me.
Teenagers are going to be teeangers. High school teens are coming into their own, developing opinions, and many of them have a hard time with authority and obedience (especially in the States). It's almost not in their nature to embrace the faith. Some of them are very attracted to liberal views because they seem somewhat rebellious and yet at the same time people-pleasing. Bottomline, some teens just don't give a darn what you have to say. AND YES THEY BICKER AND JUDGE AND TREAT EACH OTHER LIKE TRASH SOMETIMES... THEY"RE STILL KIDS IN MANY WAYS! It's all part of growing up. We have to just keep on loving them and modeling Christ for them. They will learn to embrace the faith when they trust us as ym's and catechists, and when they see our genuine love for and obedience to the Lord and His Church.
In a nutshell (corporate speak), Lifeteen is only as good as the people who run it, just like anything. There are horrible CCD programs at some parishes, just like there are some horrible Lifeteen programs at some parishes. But then again, some parishes have excellent CCD classes, and some of excellent Lifeteen programs. Let's not sit here and bash Lifeteen as a whole, because the truth is, the entire church needs a renewal of all it's catachesis.
That's it! I agree 100%. However, I do have solutions to make them care martial art style. I.E. Push ups, Calling the 'rents, making them go to the kids class instead of the adult class. But anyways, I got here to come to now and talk to people with the same faith level and age level.

The same arguments are brought up every time so it gets harder and harder to listen on both sides. You hear the same arguments. Anyway...
jiyoung
Best thing to do is to pray--like it or not, I don't think LT is going away any time soon. So just pray that God's will be done through it.
