Yep...wot he says.....

people in my parish finish their confession with the following formula...

"For these and all the sins which I cannot now remember I ask pardon, penance and absolution from you Father....."[/quote]

OK. So, does that cover Mortal sins? I thought that would cover venial sins only.

Firstly you don't have to confess venial sins only Mortal sins need to be confessed absolutely but all catholics are encouraged to confess all sins. If you genuinely forget a mortal sin it is forgiven however it is best to confess such a sin at the next opportunity in your regular confession if it is a worry.
Maybe someone else has something to add.......

Canon Law:

Can. 988 §1 The faithful are bound to confess, in kind and in number, all grave sins committed after baptism, of which after careful examination of conscience [b]they are aware,[/b] which have not yet been directly pardoned by the keys of the Church, and which have not been confessed in an individual confession.

§2 The faithful are [b]recommended [/b]to confess also venial sins.
