jmj
I need to up my prayer time. I've been trying to incorporate morning and evening prayers; as well as trying to find an affordable copy of Christian Prayer. Now that summer is rolling in, I will actually have a regular work schedule so I can start finding time to put in more prayer. Somehow I think that the more time I spend in prayer, the better off things would be in every aspect of my life.
franciscanheart
I think prayer should be vital in everyone's life. When you recognize your dependency on the Lord, especially through prayer, you pray more and realize that to pray less than you are is silly. Eventually I believe we can work our way up to constant prayer and perhaps even feel that that is not enough. When we believe that a rosary is as much prayer as we need, I believe we are seriously misguided. It comes off as saying we can handle the world and our problems on our own without our Father. Even if we could, should we not spend time praising Him for all He is?
morostheos
One thing that I always knew but has recently travelled from my head to my heart is this: Jesus is above all things the love of my life. We always gush about romantic relationships and how much we enjoy spending time with a significant other. We want to spend as much time as possible with said significant other because we love them and they love us. How much more does Christ love us than anyone else we have ever met! How foolish of us to pass by any chance we have to spend time with Christ, whose love for us is so much greater than we could ever grasp! That's what's come to mind for me lately when I'm tempted not to do my prayers - it is such a gift.

YMNolan
If we arent talking to God, worshipping Him, keeping the communication, nothing we do is as good as it could be. We care for our physical health and we neglect our spiritual health? Our spiritual health has so much more importance in our lives than so many of the things we waste our time doing. Nourish yourself! For everyone suffering from lukewarmness: read this. Domine ut Videam
We should all know that no matter how much we pray we still do not "know how to pray as we ought...." for: Romans 8:22-26 "We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For in hope we were saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope. For who hopes for what one sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance. In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible groanings." Let us pray to the Holy Spirit that we may learn how to pray, really to beg, becaue that is what pray truly is; begging. Begging is what corresponds to our hearts as finite creatures. So let us beg the Holy Spirit that we might learn how to pray! -Yours in Christ Lauren
Guest Rick777
I usually have about 30 minutes of prayer in the morning and 30 minutes at night. I usually say at least a decade of the rosary sometime in there and I try to say the Angelus at noon.
Tufsoles
I t really depends on the person. If you perfer to pray for 10 minutes with freelance in the morning and then on the way home pray the rosary and read the reading and pray over that your thing. If you like to pray for 1/2 hour along with rosary and everything else that cool too. I think that qaulity is better than qaunity time with god. if you spend qaulity time wiht god you may get more out of it, if you spend qaunity time with gad you may get something out it too. Like I said it all dpends.
Sojourner
I pray when I can ... in the car, at my desk, etc. And, I've had moments where my work becomes a prayer. Those are cool moments. Finding two uninterrupted hours to do nothing but pray would be impossible, though. My schedule's pretty tight.
goldbug16
At least if you pray once a day, it doesn't matter how long you spend.
Uh uhh uh Josie. Be careful. "We may pray most when we say least, and we may pray least when we say most." - St. Augustine of Hippo. (354-430 A.D.) - This does not mean that you should pray only once a day but at little but numerous times. Prayer is always good and one should never think :"Oh, I have prayed once for today. I dont need to pray any more." Saint Padre Pio said: "The Rosary is the Weapon!" I love to pray the rosary and the mercy chaplet. All together I would say I pray about 30 minute to an hour throughout the day.
Tindomiel
I pray when I can ... in the car, at my desk, etc. And, I've had moments where my work becomes a prayer. Those are cool moments. Finding two uninterrupted hours to do nothing but pray would be impossible, though. My schedule's pretty tight.
That's part of the reason I only do about 30-40 minutes a day of uninterrupted prayer (besides family prayers). About the length of daily prayer. God wants us to concentrate on our vocation anyway, and glorify him in that. So our work can naturally become a prayer if we offer it to Christ. Some people (nuns, brothers, etc. ) are called to a life of constant uninterrupted prayer, but most of us aren't. I'm blessed to work at a library where the atmosphere is very conducive to prayer, but I wouldn't count that as part of "daily prayer"; it's simply a part of living. franciscanheart
Prayer is only interrupted if you allow it to be. I know what you mean by sisters and brothers being called to uninterrupted prayer but even they have distractions (things that must be done). If we are devoted to making time for prayer, it can be done. You have to want to make time in order to find it.
