Dust's Sister
I don't understand when one could miss Mass... miss the chance of Recieving the Body, Blood Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ..... I know I don't ever want to miss that chance.. and I don't understand cuz these people went to Catholic High School and everything? Why don't people have Faith? I must pray for them. ~Darvon (It's my Aunts and Uncles that's missing Mass.. just to go to Six Flags... )

cappie
True Wisdom is not something we can obtain, we can’t get it on our own--not even if we worked extremely had and studied all there is to study. God’s wisdom is not like earthly wisdom, His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. I am experiencing this whenever I teach Confirmation class. I can teach all I want, but even the best curriculum will not cause any of those kids to learn and understand matters of faith. It has to be revealed by God. They have to have an experience of God in order to really understand. And that I can only pray for. That’s sort of a paradox in Christian Education—how do you “teach” what is most central about the Christian faith, namely an intimate knowledge of God? Aloysius
hey wait... aren't you the sister from dUSt's rap "Chillin on a Sunday" where it says "sis starts whinin 'i don't wanna go'" (or something like that I'm a little fuzzy on what the lyrics were) :
prose
I have missed Mass intentionally. and for similar reasons. I struggle EVERY DAY with being in this world and not of it. It is very easy for me to lapse into being a lazy Catholic. So try not to be judgemental. We all have our faults and vices. I try to be a good Catholic, but often I fail. Well I'm glad to have been Blessed with the Wisdom of Truth.. These RCIA classes helped me A LOT into believing the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist... I use to miss Mass but not anymore... I Believe.. I believe that the Church is Infallable in everything it teaches. God Bless you Father.
Carolou
cappie-yeah, I've gone through that..where you can try to teach about God and that He's real and all that but if they don't feel it inside and have faith..you can't prove it to them. It's something God does. Funny you posted this... My older brother doesn't usually get up to go to Mass with us in the morning..sometimes he'll go for evening Mass and sometimes he just doesn't bother. I felt bad today because my dad asked him if he was going to go and he just said he didn't know..like he was indifferent to going. He didn't go. It makes me feel sad. I know that for me I went through a period of time that I didn't mind missing Mass, if I could. I just wasn't getting anything out of it. I thank God that I'm not like that anymore. God is love and truth and without Him, I'd be stuck in materialistic world trying to get fullfillment(spelling?) in the wrong places...which I did start to fall into. Buuuut..so, I know how you're feeling. It's sad. Especially when it's someone you really care about.

So often we can see eachother's vices so clearly and we can't understand them, but we overlook our own.

avemaria40
I had to miss Mass last week because I was recovering from surgery and my mom wanted me to rest. I was also on painkillers due to aforementioned surgery and would not be able to pay attention or anything even if I did go. It KILLED me to miss Mass. I was crying because I didn't want to miss Mass. But surgery and stuff is understandable. I don't get how people can miss Sunday Mass (without a reason, like being sick, etc.) because God gives us 168 hours a week and He's only asking for 1. And Jesus is giving us His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. However, I don't want to judge anyone who does miss Mass and I pray for them
