[/quote] It's pretty good.... It gives very indepth histories of each member of the family and makes use of their letters to each other and to friends extensively, which is cool. The style can tend to be a bit saccharine in places, and a few parts irritate me by the way they seem to deny all possibility of failings in the Martins (except Leonie) - that can be discouraging for someone who's still struggling with basic faults, especially when the Martins themselves repeatedly emphasize how far they still have to grow in virtue.
