RC_
Folks...we have a problem. We're all using contractions improperly. Sometimes we use contractions when they're not even called for. Your - possesive You're - you are were - the past tense of "being" we're - we are its - possesive it's - it is their - another "being" verb they're - they are etc. etc. etc. I call for a total ban on contractions. It would make everyone's life easier!
Sarah_JC
A post sounds condecending if one uses proper grammer. The problem is not just contractions, it's also "ur kewl. can u hlp me wit...?" Agh!!
morostheos
how'd you think that up? they're not gonna like how you're messing around with internet grammar. we're entitled to spell things wrong, it's our right! : [color="#999999"] Edit: for the record, I agree with you about improper contractions, mis-spelling and poor grammar on the internet, but I just felt the need to use as many contractions as possible in one post...what can I say? Red Knight
I agree that contractions and their misuse is annoying, however, improper spelling is truly the bane of the internet, not grammar.
prose
When I saw this, I was thinking that you were talking about labour for some reason. So I opened the thread and while it was loading I was trying to think of the connections between labour and the internet... lol

jezic
while we tackle grammar we need to work on expanding our vocabularies as well.

"Their" is a possessive pronoun. "They're out of town for the weekend, so they left their car over there." etc. etc. etc.
Paladin
And let's not forget "there," referring to a specific location. Let's just make it easier and use Latin.

OverheadNite
I think we should have a harvard english professor monitor this board to make sure we don't screw up.. And if we do, we should be banned... :
