Theoketos
Without Reading the whole thread... Puritans did not get it right either. They did not allow for shame to be intergrated by love.
Socrates
The terms "Puritan" or "neo-Puritan" need to be carefully defined here for this debate to have any meaning. Properly speaking, the Puritans were a Calvinistic-influenced faction of the Church of England during the 17th Century. However, in popular parlance, "Puritan" has come to basically mean a prude, or in essence, "anybody whose sexual mores are stricter than my own." It has thus become a rather meaningless slur, usually used by sexual libertines to discredit their critics.
Desert Walker
That is why I use the term "neo-puritanism." Its a slap in the face to the libertines.
