OverheadNite
Lets bring it on back then. Representing Keyser for the moment will be myself. Seriously...we both wanted to punch the people behind us this morning. And if I wasn't in the Lord's house and they were men, I probably would have. jasJis
Looks like a couple of teen weinies are hankerin' for a spankerin'. They're in danger of being on Yu-Gi-Oh restriction.
ardillacid
I wonder though...people always attribute the high atteendance at christmas and easter to socalled C and E Catholics....but I know at least for my family we have guests from out of state during the holidays that are regular church goers. I wonder how many people label them "C and E Catholics"
YMNolan
At the same time at least they come at all. At least something deep within them says that they should be there on Christmas and Easter. I totally hear where everyone's coming from, but I think it's really dangerous for us to feed into our anger. Sure it drove me nuts when I couldn't even hear the homily and when I was trying to pray and people are just having conversations like they were wating at the train station. In fact, one kid in my church almost didn't eat the Eucharist! The priest had to chase him down and ask him to consume it. He looked like he was going to pull the old "put Jesus in my pocket and save 'em for later" bit. But, besides all that there was something special about the church being full. Despite all the scandal and hatred for Catholics in the media, God's people still know deep in their hears where they belong. Let's pray that over the next year these "C & E" Catholics would soften their hearts and not be lukewarm. Let's pray that they receive the Light in their life to lead them to the awesome truth of His Church. God calls us to love those people, so let's love them. let_go_let_God
Wearing Pants has always been condemned by the Church, including in the Summa.
Reply to Objection 3. As stated in the foregoing Article, outward apparel should be consistent with the estate of the person, according to the general custom. Hence it is in itself sinful for a woman to wear man's clothes, or vice versa; especially since this may be a cause of sensuous pleasure; and it is expressly forbidden in the Law (Dt. 22) because the Gentiles used to practice this change of attire for the purpose of idolatrous superstition. Nevertheless this may be done sometimes without sin on account of some necessity, either in order to hide oneself from enemies, or through lack of other clothes, or for some similar motive.

I want to comment on this briefly. I personally strongly dislike wearing dresses or skirts, so for most formal functions and functions in which I need to look professional, I wear women's slacks and a modest blouse or sweater. These clothes are designed for women and are not men's clothes. I also do not wear jeans or pants for pleasure, rather to modestly cover myself and be comfortable. Also there are some activities that it would be really uncomfortable and extreamly embarrassing to wear a skirt to engage in, such as rock climbing and volleyball. How do you put a harness around a skirt and still be modest? God bless- LGLG

I like it. (My mother does.) What grinds my gears is when kids say that our YM preist is hypocritical when he asks them to sit with their families and not with their friends. They think it's a "holier than thou" thing. And then they sit in the back with their friends and text message during MAss.

At the last Confirmation retreat I helped on, we had 206 youth for 35 college leaders (Me as 1) First rule no cell phones period. five min later about 3 went off. missionseeker
I did that to only at the beginning of the retreat the (you know big) leader had a box and said bring your cell phones up. Well at the end of the retreat she was going to give back the phones but before she did my friend (who is also on the retreat team) said be honest how many of you kept your cell phones. About 40 out 60 kids raised their hands,
let_go_let_God
Oh yeah, so we were allowed to confiscate on an individual basis. There was another retreat that I was on that they confiscated all watches, clocks, cellphones, iPods, and anything else that could be a distraction. It was the best retreat I have ever be on. I only had to turn in my watch. God bless- LGLG
missionseeker
They weren't supposed to iPods either. One girl brought hers and lost it and started blaming people for stealing it. Pitched a huge fit.
let_go_let_God
The only one allowed to have an iPod on the Confirmation retreat I was on, was the priest leading the retreat. He had all the music for the skits and mellow worship time. God bless- LGLG
