[quote name='Keyser Soze' date='Apr 16 2006, 06:34 PM']On days like today, or Christmas...It really grinds my gears when you have those twice-a-year church-goers sitting behind you at Mass talking and giggling during the consecration.  Had I no reverence myself, I'd turn around and ask them if they had any idea what was going on. Yeah, there were tons of people like that at my church last night. :( It was really hard to pray. There weren't just a few talkers; there was a dull roar of people laughing, talking, joking, generally acting as though they were waiting for a movie to begin. (Actually, it seems quieter before movies than in this instance.) One woman ahead of us was asked to be an Extraordinary Minister just after she had been making fun of plenary indulgences with her daughters, who were sitting with her. :ohno:

I hope most of it is just ignorance on their part, but it really is sad when people fail to realize where they are. It's as if people have lost all sense of the sacredness of silence.

And I wasn't the only one bothered. My seven-year-old brother whispered to me that the people sitting around us needed to go to the crying room. From the mouths of babes.

I'm just grateful that I can participate in the Mass. I'm not worthy to be there but for the mercy of Jesus.

If children are noisy, there's no point in getting angry. Rather, let's thank God that they weren't aborted like so many others! God bless their parents for raising them in the Faith amidst a culture which despises God.

The thing that grinds my gears even more, is that shortly after they file on up to the communion line and receive something they obviously don't fully appreciate and understand thinking they have just fulfilled their obligation for the year.
A side gear grinder here...don't fuss, moan and sigh when father's homily is a long one! ESPECIALLY NOT FATHER PAUL'S...SUCKA! :boxer:
Feel free to add some of your personal gear grinders.

I hate it when Catholics are politcally correct, and call others "anti-semetic" becuase they believe what the church has always taught.

[quote name='Extra ecclesiam nulla salus' date='Apr 16 2006, 06:51 PM']Wearing Pants has always been condemned by the Church, including in the Summa.

Except it is common in our culture for women to wear pants, and we have women's style pants. As long as it's modest, who cares? I wore slacks last night to Mass, and they were modest and made for ladies, not for men. I wore one dress three times already (I might get it cleaned before wearing it again) and my other dress was sleeveless and I didn't feel it was appropriate to approach the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament in a sleeveless dress.

And what did we do after mass to evangelize to these people. If the church only sees them twice a year shouldn't we ytake that oppurtunity to reach out. I think Jeus would. Sometimes they are just waiting for someone who is a church goer to show a little love. Most likely they are victims of bad family traditions and only know what they've been thought. Thank God I come from a good family. Stop crying about it and start being proactive when you encounter ingnorance.

Oh yeah, some you are way to critical and maticulous (maybe the wrong spelling). Mommy he stole my nu-nu. :sadder:
