Combatting lukewarmness

Oh yeah another thing I forgot to mention that always helps me combat spiitual desolation... I've realized more and more lately just how active Christ is in our lives. Although you may feel spiritually dry or desolate or whatnot at Point A, Christ is with you through that and is using Point A to get you to Point B. And if Point B is filled with struggle and hardship, it's what God wants at that particular time, to get you from Point A to Point C.

I hope that made sense! These things are a lot more understandable in my head... ^_^

Thanks, Tink! I like that... "And if Point B is filled with struggle and hardship, it's what God wants at that particular time, to get you from Point A to Point C." And, since my priest said in his homily a few days ago that our struggles are never over until we "make our own pass-over" from this life to the next, if Point C is filled with struggle and hardship, it's what God wants, to get me from Point A to Point D. And if Point D is filled with struggle and hardship, it's what God wants, to get me from Point A to Point E. And if Point E... you get the picture!

And I'm sorry, Myles, if I jumped to a conclusion.  Thanks for the link to the download, because I don't have the hard copy of that book.  And I checked out your blog too...it's worth the self-promotion!

You can also look at your periods of lukewarmness as a gift from God. For one, you appreciate so much more the sacrifice of Christ that paid for our redemption when you've realized how sinful all of us are. And secondly, those lukewarm experiences help us relate to all those people in the pews next to us who seem to be perpetually lukewarm! If you know how they feel and what their thoughts and attitudes might be, you'll be far less judgemental and far more capable of relating to them and letting God use you to draw them closer to Christ.
