Robbi
I understand that Sundays are meant to be kept "Holy" and to avoid any unnecessary work. What about Good Friday? I was brought up that Good Friday was also a day meant for unnecessary work, but dont know if there is any official teaching on this. Thanks & Peace, Rob
cappie
There is no official teaching Good Friday is not a Public Holiday in many countries. Not all are enlightened as Australia The Code of Canon Law says: Can. 1247 On Sundays and other holydays of obligation, the faithful are obliged to assist at Mass. They are also to abstain from such work or business that would inhibit the worship to be given to God, the joy proper to the Lord's Day, or the due relaxation of mind and body. Good Friday is not a Holy Day of Obligation.
