phillovesourlady2
I know that I probably won't be received into the Church until Easter Vigil, next year, and I've come to accept that as God's choice of time for me. But, I have been thinking already, I know its a little bit too soon about what Confirmation name I would like to take. I know I want to take a name of a great Marian and someone who was devoted to the Eucharist. Naturally, the first person who comes to mind is Pope John Paul II, but would it seem too bold to take a Pope's name? My other choices were St. Maximillian Kolbe or St. Louis de Monfort who were both extremely devoted to Our Lady. I can't think of any other Saints but I know there must be tons of Saints that fit this criteria. Any hints? cappie
A confirmation name is one of a saint. Pope JPII may be a declared saint by then but he is not now. St Pio commonly known as Padre Pio was a Capuchin who had a great love for the Eucharist and Mary. : Edited April 12, 2006 by cappie
sweetpea316
I'm in the same shoes as you...it won't be until next Easter for me either, but I trust in God's timing. I've chosen St. Faustina for my confirmation saint, cause she is awesome and I love the Divine Mercy Chaplet and whatnot also. Hmm... I'll keep an eye out for saints that fit your description. I can't think of any off the top of my head. God bless+

LouisvilleFan
I totally forgot about the confirmation name until this morning at rehearsal for Confirmation Since I've been fascinated with the life of St. Francis of Assisi and other saints who took his name, like St. Francis de Sales (it seems that God has put me in a place to guide more Calvinists towards Catholicism) and St. Francis Xavier (I think he baptized about as many as St. Francis de Sales brought back to the Catholic Church ), partly on a whim I decide to take the name Francis. It feels especially appropriate since I happen to be joining a Conventual Franciscan parish. Edited April 15, 2006 by LouisvilleFan
EvangelineLaFay
Congrats, Phil! I am in the exact same boat as you. Since we are on this topic, I am having problems choosing one myself. There are three saints I am considering. Saint Joan of Arc Saint Cecilia Saint Genesius Genesius and Cecilia are of course the patron saints of theatre and music, respectivly...and I love Joan for her courage. Music is apparently my gift such as it is--I've been told I've had an angel's , but I love the theatre just as much. Any advice?
son_of_angels
I was just brought into full communion with Holy Mother Church this Easter, and was the only one who got to take a confirmation name. My confirmation name, and my middle name and also my father's name, is Phillip, after St. Philip Neri. I would choose one that not only means something to you for the saint it represents, but also one which will unite you with some other aspect of yourself. Perhaps there is a traditional Christian name in your family, or a saint which is related to you somehow, or even the saint on whose feast day you were born? All of these are good things to consider. Then, when you have found him/her, study about him, and seek to make him your patron so that everytime you are reminded of that relationship which formed your decision, you invoke that saint for help in building up your every day life. God bless.
