hyperdulia again
how does one do it, and if parents switch rites do the children automatically belong to the new rite or are they still members of the other? if one belongs to a few roman rite lay associations (MI, etc.) do they have to resign membership in these after switching rites? BLAZEr
You can, as a Latin Rite Catholic, participate fully in all of the Eastern Rite services. You don't need to become an Eastern Rite Catholic in order to worship like an Eastern Rite Catholic. Now, that being said, if you wanted to actually change rites, and you had just cause. You would request it from an Eastern Rite Bishop who would petition your Latin Rite Bishop and done. There used to be some long process, but now its very simple. Mainly because there is no real difference in who you are, just where your juridical status is prosecuted (i.e. who decides about your sacramental needs). IS THERE A CANON LAWYER IN THE HOUSE?
