Handy Hints Thread

So, after my wd-40 then dish soap removed set in grease stains, I thought, there must be a million more hints out there!

Know any cool ones?

Here's another:

Spilled wax on a rug? Let it dry, then put some paper towel over the top of it, and iron it with a hot iron with the heat off. Theiron will melt the wax, and the paper towel will absord it.

This saved me a BIG mess in my old apartment.

Use old dryer sheets (fabric softener sheets) to scrub and remove soap scum from your bathtub and sink.

Yes, especially if your car battery is corroded. Coke is also useful (hen mixed with brown sugar) to baste a ham.

My aunt who is from Bejing uses Coke when doing stir fry. Aparently it's big in China to do that.

Got this one from my grandmother:

Hate the dents in the carpet when you move a piece of furniture?

Use a fork and comb the carpet up in the opposite direction that it has been matted down.

chcken on the grill: small chicken, clean and patted dry.
crack open a can of cheap beer.
shove beer up the cavity of the chicken.
place in pan upright in hot grill.
approx 1 hour, med heat (350)
remove, toss beer and can, enjoy!

can be done in oven too, if rack is low enough to fit upright chicken.

Wouldn't some of the aluminum or even the writing on the can somehow transfer to the chicken?

:idontknow: about the aluminum or writing...

but a good thing to mention is you have to open the bear can first... other wise the can tends to explode....

My dad has done this before... its good stuff.

Here's a helpful hint

If you have large blood stains on your wall, use a sponge with peroxide. This will break down the proteins in the blood making it easier to clean and it won't leave a permanent stain.
