hello all, i'm new to these parts. i checked in above, but i just wanted to post again and say that i'm glad there's a forum like this. as a hip hop artist and a catholic, it's nice to have a spot where my sometimes seemingly seperate lives can connect. i co-facilitate a catholic social teaching group here in austin called justfaith, in case anyone else is involved with that elsewhere.
peace.

Hi, Paradox! My mom's involved with a Justfaith group at her parish, and absolutely loves it.

Welcome to Phatmass!

thumper, have you ever gone to one of the JF meetings? i think it's a great thing for younger catholics to get involved with. it's broken up into different social issues, such as racism, simple living, etc., with readings, discussions, retreats, and mission trips along the way.

I haven't gone myself, no, but as a Campus Minister at a university for several years, I've enjoyed learning about diverse areas of social justice. Now that I'm living in Boston it might be a good group for me to hook up with, since the parish I go to doesn't have a large young adult population or a lot of opportunities outside of mass. So thanks for the suggestion! How long have you been involved with JF?

i actually have a friend that lives outside of boston (somerville) and works as the student outreach coordinator at northeastern university's center of community service. we did the jesuit volunteer corps together in belize. anyway, he's not involved with justfaith, but he is part of some weekly social justice group through a local parish (he talks about it like it's all younger people, too). if you're interested, you should definitely get in touch with him about maybe joining up. let me know and i'll pass along his e-mail address.

this is actually only my first year of being involved with JF, so about 5 months now, i guess. our group is dope, though. 6 younger adults all down to actually put the readings into action.

anyway, hope all is well on your end.

When I first came this place moved so fast I couldn't keep up.

It seems to slow down once you are addicted. :idontknow:
