Why, exactly, would someone want to waste their time with something like the "Vagina Monologues"?
That's the problem with some of the conservatives on this board.  Having an opinion takes precedent over having an informed opinion.

I can understand how people who've seen it can be offended by it.  There are parts of the play that laud actions that are sinful. My personal opinion is that it is not pornography.

However, if Notre Dame showed the movie "The Godfather", I doubt there would be anyone up in arms.

You've still done absolutely nothing to explain how the VM should be part of a Catholic education or be hosted by Catholic institutions.

You've done almost nothing to address the posts of those who have seen or read this play.

You're simply trying to change the topic to turn this into another "conservative-bashing" thread.

And there's nothing wrong with forming an opinion based on the testimony of trusted witnesses.
(Have you personally fought in or been directly involved in the War in Iraq?
Then God forbid you give an opinion on it!
You form opinons on things everyday you have not personally witnessed first hand. Stop being hypocritical.)

Clearly not only have you no firsthand knowledge of the play, you have no firsthand knowledge of my comments.

I haven't argued that it should be allowed. I've said there are legitimate complaints.

I've said that in my opinion, its not pornography.

Read again. I said some. Specifically people who use conservatism to hide the fact that they have no firsthand knowledge about a subject.

I would be critical of anyone who did that btw.

I think it's time we realize that there is no conservative, nor is there liberal. There are many things that are conservative that aren't Catholic. Racism, for example, could be viewed as conservative, though it isn't Catholic. In the end, when Christ said that he would separate the sheep from the goats, there will only be the faithful and the nonfaithful, simple as that. Fidelity is what God wants, not any affiliation with any political or moral view. If you remain with Rome, you won't stray, and these petty terms won't matter.
to be fair, Pius IX was speaking about a different sort of liberal.

He was probably very upset when the liberals kidnapped him from Rome.  Bloody French.  Now can we bash them???
I will never cease to be amazed at how the devil can lie so well by telling the truth.

Of course we have nothing to fear; the Church is Holy and the forces of hell shall never win before Her doors.

However, does the fact that we have nothing to fear relieve us of our moral obligations?

well said.
even before being hardcore Catholic, it made me feel ashamed of females, that they would try and pass this off as something beneficial to our sex.  go read "the priviledge of being a woman" by alice von hildebrand and THEN you'll really love your vagina and won't feel the need to shout about it from the rooftops.  modesty is indeed a lost virtue.
thank you.

anyone watch yesterday's Oprah show? normally i don't watch her show mainly because i really dislike her, but yesterday's show was about women degrading themselves in order to make men feel better about themselves, how women "dumb themselves down" to make men feel smarter. some of it was feminist theory baloney, but there was a great message about how women have learned oppression from men, and how they are enforcing that oppression on other women. anyway, i'm explaining it badly, but if i find a link, i will post it.

the devil is such a plagurizer. he's got nothing new so he just takes what is already there and puts a "spin" on it.

to quote south park, "satan, thats just not very nice."
