I say my rosary in Latin, Micah helped me iron it out one time, so I will help you if you want.

Also VirtualRosary.org has the Rosary in Latin.

Got mine today, from amazon. It is really nice, and I really like the fact that the questions are packed but concise and succinct.

I don't know what all the excitement is for. It's not like the Catechism is hard to get around. It's pretty well organized. This seems like a waste of $$$ to me. ^_^

Well... you are older, enjoy theology, and study. I think it is a great tool, like the baltimore catechism for study groups, rcia, children, and other teaching situations where you will not be able to adequately navigate the entire catechism in a shorter span of time, especially if you have to teach it.

Pope Benedict saw a need for it. :idontknow:

Well, yah, for those purposes, it's fine. But if you already have the Catechism, I don't see any reason to buy this one. This doesn't seem geared toward simple answers (at least the CP answer given above seems about the same as the Catechism). It just seems smaller and more direct.

Well... I'm a catechist (in training), and I help teach rcia. So I'm crazy like that. lol. Reading it and learning it is required for my degree. And yeah, it is just a concise version of the catechism.

Yes, but this poses questions that many Catholics have, and don't know how to immediately answer because they are unable to navigate through the Catechism. Further, for myself, this is perfect, because it is a synopsis of everything I learned, and a good refresher for those things I may have forgotten over the course of four years. To be honest, when I "returned" and started to actively practice my faith again, I spent a lot of time reading the old catechisms, because they laid it out simply and systematically. There is nothing wrong with the current catechism, but I was more confused reading that one than I was say the Baltimore Catechism. Besides, I really enjoyed the pictures...I will never forget little johnny who went in to the confessional with 7 sins and came out with 8 because he withheld one. :)

I find this current compendium similar to the old catechisms which make it easier to not just reference but remember, because it lays out the important parts of each particular teaching.

Of course, that is just my .02, take it for what it's worth.

God Bless

Catholic booksellers need to figure out that they will NEVER take the market back from secular megastores like amazon if they continue to sell items only at their retail value. They would sell a lot more (and then in essance make more profit) if they lowed prices.

Take the compendium:

Sell one at 15, make (1x7.49) 7.49

Sell 5 at 10 make (5x2.49) 15.00

phatcatholic

i like how there are explanations on the back of each of the paintings in the CCCC to help you use even those to teach the faith :)
