Help Needed!

Joan Chittister is a "Catholic "nun"" who supports women's ordination and other liberal-ish things.

I need more on her specific heresies in order to write a formal letter to the President of the University I'm attending because she was invited to be the Commencement Speaker.

More importantly, however, the Diocese is very much involved with the Theology department here and I think it appropriate to write a letter to the bishop requesting his intervention/authority on the matter (the Pres. won't want the bad press since he's currently trying to beef the school's image in the local media).

Joan Chittister writes "From Where I Stand" columns for the National Catholic Reporter : http://nationalcatholicreporter.org/fwis/

She also has her own organization and website : https://www.benetvision.org/benetvision/joanpage.html

I can spot some heresies, but I want to make sure I catch all the big ones (and for that, since I'm still trudging through classes, I need help!).

Oh, how awful. Oh well, we must pray for her.

I seem to recall that she once made some heretical statements in front of the Holy Father himself (John Paul II). I think that was on one of his visits to the U.S. I also seem to remember her being quoted as very upset that Benedict was elected Pope. :idontknow:

I pity the poor woman. She really does need prayers.

Heh, I was gonna say.

It's a Catholic school, with it's first lay president... a man interested in making the small, private school more like a huge University.

The Philosophy department is decently solid. And the Theo department is cool minus a few heretical nuns and another heretical prof (that only teaches a few classes).

But there are those fighting to make the campus better and more Catholic.

You should just call her and ask her specific questions. That would be the best way. It is really hard to nail these people down, and the internet is full of lies and disinformation(unfortunately from orthodox people) who want to discredit her. (I tried to get her and one of her buddies not to talk at a Catholic School. It is a good thing that I attempted to verify my info, because almost everything I read about them was unfounded)

That being said, Joan Chistister has a really awful book/ commentary on the Rule of St. Benedict. It is full of outright Heresy. I am sure that your library will have it as it, sadly, very popular.

I've been getting my info. from articles she wrote herself?

Are there sites that talk about her? I googled her and didn't find anything.

Nonetheless, she still should not be speaking at commencement.
well I'm certainly confused.

what accusations against her were unfounded, Theoketos?

The biggest one is witch craft. Some one accused her of that and it got really messy between the orthodox students and liberal nuns bringing the dissents to campus.
