blovedwolfofgod
So, did anybody else start this? Today began the 40 day prep period. I started with some friends from the Newman center... even got some of our protestants to join! Of course, I cant claim that. Had to be God. But anyway, if you guys would pray for me and my group, that would be great. If its as great as DeMontfort says, Im expecting an attack. Anyone else doing the consecration? scardella
Umm, it's a 33 day prep period. I just finished renewing it on March 25. I'd recommend that everyone read True Devotion to Mary prior to making the consecration. It gives you a much better understanding of the fullness of the consecration. blovedwolfofgod
wow... it is 33 days... i really miscounted.... even my priest helped me figure out when 40 days from may 13 was... thats hilarious! And we are college students, so not everyone will be able to read it. Im gonna make an outline for them right after I reread it soon. Give them the skinny on it. Thanks scardella! JesusITrustInYou
bloved, I'll be praying for you and your group! Wow, how cool to find this topic, seeing as I just made my consecration to Jesus through Mary on Saturday, March 25th, 2006. Actually, it was really neat cause that night, I had to make a decision...whether or not to call my friend, who I needed to talk to in order to clear up some *ahem* issues...and I wasn't sure if it was the right time, and I was asking myself all these questions, ya know, the questions..."Should I do it? Would it be the right thing to do, or would it be totally wrong? Does it matter??" So I finally decided to just do it...and I called my friend and we talked and everything went fine, thank You, God! So from that I learned that sometimes, when we have to make those decisions that aren't really...a strict matter of conscience, cause we don't clearly see "This is right" and "This is wrong," instead of getting ourselves all worked up about it, we should just trust that Our Blessed Mother will take care of things. Thank you, Mary! and yes indeed, True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin is an awesome book to read, even if you're not really thinking about doing the consecration...by the end of the book, you'll be thinking about it! (btw, this is my first post on phatmass... So by way of introduction: Hello. My name is Angela. I am sixteen years old. I live in Pennsylvania, and I'm glad about that because I love our mountains. ...and I'm glad to be part of the phamily here at phatmass! : )
blovedwolfofgod
I am honored by your first post! And its true about the book. I didnt want to do the consecration, then read the book, then the seeds were planted and I got to a point where I really wanted to. But I started it a week early Would it be appropriate to add an extra week of stuff to it? For the sake of my group, I kind want to keep them going, so I may add some Imitation of Christ meditations. Thats not illicit, is it? I mean, Im not trying to add to something that probably doesnt need added to, I just dont want to lose my group and hurt their morale. scardella
33 days is plenty long, in my opinion. I don't see how it'd be wrong to lengthen it though. Maybe you should take a look at some Maximilian Kolbe stuff? He was a big fan of de Montfort and sort of developed on it a little. Unfortunately he doesn't have a master work... he was working on the manuscript when he was captured in WWII. I read a good work that effectively strung together a bunch of his quotes, but I can't put my finger on it right now...
photosynthesis
I didn't read *all* of True Devotion to Mary, but I'd read St. Louis' "Secret of the Rosary" which also goes over his charism. it's not a requirement to read it but it really does enrich the experience

prose
Can someone clearly explain this to me? I have heard of it, and I have seen the prayers, but I would like to know what it is exactly. (maybe a website link?)
