[right][snapback]930286[/snapback][/right] [/quote] some are so busy working 3 below minimum wage jobs and taking care of kids that they don't have time to try and learn English Immigrants should learn English but it's hard to assimilate when no one is helping you and you weren't able to come here legally for whatever reason. No government checks coming in the mail , and no food stamps. they got jobs and they survived. and btw they were discriminated against just as much as mexicans are today. He had to support a wife, his mom, his 4 children and his 3 nephews and nicies. My mom started working when she was 11. My other aunts and Uncles also worked when they were between 12-14 years of age. My grandfather worked from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. and when he got home he ate, showered and slept.
