Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
hello Kristina. how are things?
Paladin
You know, in most Eastern Rites, they do Confirmation, Baptism, and Holy Communion all when you're an infant. I've heard some in the Latin Rite world call for a movement of Confirmation back to the same time as Baptism. Such a move would solve the interdiocescan age discrepency problems with the sacrament. Just a thought.

Paladin
that is not our tradition.
No, it isn't. But it's also little-t tradition, not Sacred Tradition. In the early Church, it seems this was the way it was done. I'm not saying it would necessarily be bad or good, and you could argue for both. But it's an interesting thought. And it should be noted that we don't have much of a tradition currently, with Confirmation ages differing diocese by diocese, ranging from 5th grade to 10th grade. Not a small discrepency. It'd be nice if the USCCB came up with a universal age, no matter what it might be.

Guest Rick777
EENS, I understand that you don't want to have to deal with "watered down" Catholicism, but in the end all that matters is the Sacrament itself. I'm pretty traditional myself but I'm still making my confirmation at a pretty unorthodox parish because I care only about the Sacrament of Confirmation.....I just read this over and it doesn't make too much sense.lol. In other words, stop sweating the small stuff and just worry about the Sacrament. And maybe if it's liberal unorthodox teaching you could step up to the plate and speak out!
