First anniversary of JPII's death

It's amazing how fast the time goes. It seems like yesterday I was in Toronto at WYD watching him pray the Mass.

Pray for the repose of the soul of Pope John Paul the Great, and for his canonization.

Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Amen. +

That was uncalled for. You could have just posted the second half and left it at that. Who are you, good sir, to judge the soul of one called to be the Vicar of Christ? :annoyed:

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus

all a canonization means is that he is in heaven. I (bye no means) believe John Paul II is in hell, so i think he will be canonized.

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." -Luke 6:37

If you don't like him or what he did, that's your business. But when you wager on the state of his soul, you're flirting with pride. God alone will judge him; neither you nor I nor any man has any right to judge his soul.

I am glad that you feel as though you are a competent authority in this matter. Shall we next consider your sins and the punishment due them?

Well, if you reckon a man like John Paul would be in purgatory for that long, there'd be no hope for my salvation.

I'm very glad you're not God, STM. :)

ok, my heart has been softened. [mod] *edited*negative criticism of JPII -- ice princess [/mod] I think he was a kind man who made many mistakes. He would have been very "grandfatherly" if I would have ever met him. I remember visiting Rome 3 years back and attending his papal audience... good times, good times.

Wow, StThomasMoore, that was quite hateful what you said.

I can't believe he passed away a year ago! It seems like yesterday!

Ash Wednesday

What is this, Bring Your Trad Kids to the Phorum Day on phatmass? Good Dog Almighty. I'd say more but I don't have the energy.

God bless the pope. I remember last year not too long before he died he held the crucifix and meditated on it so lovingly while Ratzinger recited the stations of the cross.

I think he would reach the kingdom of heaven far before anyone on this board. Especially the prideful. You know who you are.
