I'm not looking for perfection, but the neighborhoods around Franciscan University are dangerous. As I mentioned, Franciscan U students have been killed in that area. I'd prefer to live to tell about my college experience, y'know?

I hate to break it to you but no matter where you go there are bad neighborhoods and people get killed in every city. I knew all about Steubie's history before I considered going here and it didn't frighten me. Yes, there are some areas that one should stay out of but that is just like any other city. And ladies should definitely not walk around down town Steubie by themselves. Surprising enough though where I work I meet all kinds of people, most of them from Steubenville area and I haven't encountered any problems with any of them. But like I said there are dangers in every city, no matter where you go. There are even dangers in little bitty towns, like where I'm from. Believe me I don't know of another man as protective as my father over his baby girl, me ;). But he is over 1200 miles from me and I have no family here or anywhere near Steubie. He worries but he also knows that I'll be okay and I take very good care of myself. He also finds comfort in the fact that I have many people from phatmass up here watching over me as well. So I would say check into Steubie and discern before totally knocking it out of the running.

Steubenville

Crime: The number of violent crimes recorded by the FBI in 2003 was 132. The number of murders and homicides was 1. The violent crime rate was 6.7 per 1,000 people.

That's definitely a lot lower then Shreveport where I was going to school.

Dont go to FUS, not because of the crime, although you will get beaten up outside of the bars if you talk to the wrong townies girl, or the redonkulous price, but because it is still one big protestant singalong gone crazy with gidieons everywhere. The only thing I miss about the place is the Knights of the Holy Queen.

Go to St. Mary's in Kansas

We are only discussing Catholic colleges faithful to the Magisterium, so SSPX is automatically disqualified.
Notre Dame is not a good Catholic School. As long as they advocate and Gay and Lesbian film festival and a shaddy athletic department it will not be.

I'm not sure it will be allowed next year (along with the V. Monologues). The new president at ND seems to be cleaning house. Can't speak to the athletic program but I don't know of any problems...

Trying to reason with someone who hates the Catholic Church and is a schismatic is trying to reason with a brick wall. You're not going to get through.

Perhaps, but if nothing else, it was worth mentioning that it is an SSPX school to inform those who didn't know it.

dangit. You figured out we are Protestants. Jack Chick's assassins will be at your door shortly to be sure that you don't keep spreading this information. We do not want it to get out that we are really a Protestant school, vieled under the auspices of having crucifixes in every classroom, mass three times a day, confession 4 days a week, Franciscan priests teaching in the classrooms. And all those nuns walking around in habits, all the Catholic convert teachers we have here....we really are doing a good job of hiding our protestantism and can't afford to have you messing it up.

If you wanted to, you could go to confession 27 times a week on campus and at churches in the steubenville area. That doesn't include confessions before/after masses as well as any number of priests who would hear one anytime upon request. It's all part of our devious plan to make the world a Protestant.

That's what I heard too. And I've been told by many solid Catholics that it's got several strongly Catholic chapels, plus some solid professors. If you go there you just have to be prepared to run into wacky stuff as well as orthodox stuff.

Your an odd fellow Brother Adam, such spite, anger, hostility toward someone honestly seeking the truth, I wonder if you rant about being schismatic and hating the church to all the protestant kids at FUS or the Gidieons that come twice a year?

FUS has a lot of Crucifixs, rosarys, NO Masses, and Religious walking around, yea ok, they also have no Tridentine Mass, few Priests ordained with the old rite, "Catholic" history teachers that say "Catholics can join the masons now if they want" and "ugh Catholics and there crazy mason theories", people showing up to mass in shorts, pajamas, flipflops, hats, tanktops, a Marian Priest that refers to confession as a spiritual diaper change, Anglican Priestess invited to talk about Marian Dogma, students that dont even know there is a latin Mass, Girls that wear "booty" shorts, and sports bras, Protestant "Lords days" singalongs on Saturday where everyone gets together plays guitar and shares symbolic wine and bread, false speaking in tounges, rejection of tradition, and it just goes on and on.

Yes alot of the people at FUS are good and nice and the many Rosaries said save souls, but there is just so much wrong with that place, to call it Catholic is an insult to the Church.

BTW, who are you Brother Adam, im trying to place you.
