Church Punk
Cam, As per my last post here, about Holy Water during lent. The reason I ask this is because when I visit my mother and go to mass with her, I notice that the church she attends (in a different city) seems to do everything different that most of the churches I have attended and it is almost a night and day difference between this church and Assumption in Windsor which I regularly attend. The one thing that sat uneasy with me was the Holy Water, when entering I went to touch the water to sign my self when first I noticed there was none in the font. Then a "greeter" so cheerfully approached me and said NO in lent we don’t use holy water. I just stood there blank not knowing what to say because I always thought that we did. Now you have confirmed that my impression was correct. I feel like I should be saying something about this but Im not sure how to approach it. What is your suggestion? I would reference no. 184 of said document and approach the pastor. What he is doing is wrong. Use the citation that I provided from the Vatican and ask for the pastor to change his viewpoint. It is not consistent with accepted Catholic teaching. In a charitable way, mind you.
