[quote name='Brother Adam' date='Mar 27 2006, 11:03 AM']I got my Haydock today. It is really beat up pretty bad. The sides are all marked up and dirty, and the book is bent up, the spine is a little loose. The pages are otherwise unmarked though. I don't know that I would have payed $40 for this. IT looks like it got pretty mulled through the mail.

yeah. they could have at least put it in a small box for how much we paid for shipping and they sent it media mail. They just put a thin cardboard stock around it.

Is there anything you can do about it?

Eh. It was only $40. I thought about asking for a refund on the shipping charges that they didn't use when they mailed it media mail, but that would only be a few dollars and hardly is worth a letter. They otherwise are a good company in that they don't charge retail for most of their products, but make it more affordable to own Catholic books.

Can't wait to recieve mine... I've sorta wanted the Haydock and would never purchase it at the $100 price. This was the only way I would go about getting one.

I paid 60 dollars for mine from allcatholicbooks and it had a very slight bend on the cover of the OT. Looked like normal shelf wear - in fact if you told me that it was new and going for 100 dollars I would've believed you.
Reading through the whole Bible again now - just finished Leviticus tonight. Best commentary I've ever seen compiled in one place.

that's funny, my OT was a bit more beat up than my NT... but both only had folded corners.

Mine is in good condition. The cover looks like it's old and the corners are only slightly bent on the cover. Other than that, it is perfect.
