Confessionator741
personally... It depends on my relationship with the priest... For a particular priest of mine, I will always go face to face. I am very comfortable with him and we have a great friendship... however, for others, i do prefer to use the curtain... i get nervous and scared when i dont know them... on top of me being nervous and scared, just because its confession... which reminds me... its been QUITE a while.... Fidei Defensor
We have traditional box type confessionals, with both screen on one side, and face-to-face on the other. I use the screen because I wouldnt feel comfortable with my priest knowing who I was since I work with him when I am serving.

Noel's angel
face to face, all the time.
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
I also like the screen because it has a crucifix hanging above it. and when i get nervous or scared i just look at it and it reminds of two things: 1. Jesus loves me very very much 2. He died so that my sins could be forgiven
Thy Geekdom Come
It depends on how I feel. Usually, if there's a screen, I'll use that, but sometimes I'd rather have a little more contact with the priest, like when I really need to be comforted. Sinner
Screen. The confession is to Jesus acting through the Priest. When I see the priest, it makes me start thinking "I wonder what Fr X will think of this or that" ...... I know I shouldn't but I do. The screen helps me keep my mind on the fact that it is Jesus on the other side.
stbernardLT
I use a walkie talkie (I thing that's how you spell it) with a voice disquiser.
adventure
I've done both, mostly 'cause I was in Italy for a while & it's tough enough to find face-to-face, let alone in English! (My Italian is by no means that good.) I go back & forth with whether I know the priest or not, too. I think there's benefit to going to someone who can gauge your character but sometimes I'm amazed at how much a good confessor can pick up in a 1 minute overview. TheOliverOrder88
As many have said, depends on the priest and my mood. If I have some pride issues, I force myself to go face to face. I had some fun time yesterday in confession, as always. Absolution rocks my socks.
Lilllabettt
I usually prefer behind the screen. But if the line for face-to-face confession opens up first, then there I go!
Guest AlexofMaceidon
I remember my first confession, you would have had to have had some sort of weapon to get my out from behind that screen. However, on a retreat, everyone kept saying to get to confession, cause its awesome. Well I finally went, and funny thing about doing confession outdoors, no screens! I've never gone back since. let_go_let_God
Depends on the priest. When I'm at college, I will go face to face, all the priests around here are awesome. When I'm at home, I can't bear to do anything but behind the screen unless I know my priest isn't doing confessions that day. I will usually switch it up though. God bless- LGLG
DemonSlayer
I prefer to go to confession with a screen, but I've never done that.
morostheos
I do both, usually face to face though. Sometimes there's not a choice, so I just go with the flow. I would prefer the screen if I thought it gave me anonymity, but I know usually the priest knows my voice anyway, so I just go face to face. If I don't know the priest at all, I don't mind going face to face. I hate how I'm always worried what the priest will think of me. I just try not to think about it too much!
