Myles Domini
I dont think this is a debate topic. Possibly more suited to 'Open Mic'. I try to make it to Confession on a weekly basis. I think leaving it longer than that can be potentially dangerous or, at the very least, counter prodcutive. The grace of Confession allows one to advance in the spiritual life and overcome the wicked habits of venial sin. If you're having problems why dont you just get a good book on Examination of Conscience?

Ash Wednesday
For me it's like going to the doctor to get a shot or other painful piece of work done. You feel nervous about the visit and the procedure, and there is some pain, but afterwards you know you are now on the mend and you feel sooo much better. Never in my experience has a priest ever been judgmental, ridiculing or looked on someone for going to confession. If they do, they need the sacrament even more than you do. And in the end you aren't merely speaking to a priest, you are speaking to Christ there for you to trust and confide in.
Ora et Labora
See, confession for me is really easy. I actually enjoy going! It makes me feel better. Anyways, Myles is right. Examination of Conscience is the best way to go. About the SSPX, if you really are confused and lost with them, I think its a good idea to tell the priest. Church Punk
I think the more you go the easier it becomes. It is in the trust that you build with the priest that you can reveal your inner most secrets. After all you are not speaking to the preist, you are speaking to Jesus through the Sacrament! Ora et Labora
Church Punk is right. Just go more often, if possible, Sam.
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
im afraid i wil say something that the priest thinks is ridiculous, or is Too much information. Im afraid to give too much information, i do not want to embaress the priest or lead to an occassion of sin
Ora et Labora
Sam, you will not say to much. Just ask him "do you mind if I tell you a problem I'm having?" I told a priest my fear of demons (BIG fear) and it took a while. By the time I was done I was almost on the verge of tears... he helped tremendiously!!! Thats what their there for. Dont worry. He will be glad to help you. It really does help.
