homeschoolmom
Whoa... When did that happen? I don't know Fr. Altier personally, but I know of him... Hmm... Interesting.
Cam42
It's a really long story, but it has to do with Fr. Altier opposing the Archdiocesan program "Talking about Touching." This is a program which the children will be "taught" about inappropriate touching in school. Fr. Altier believes that this is not the role of the schools, but rather the role of the parents. Also the language used is graphic and inappropriate for students in primary grades (ie. K-4). WARNING: The language contained in the links is graphic. I would strongly suggest NOT letting little children read this, unless a parent is near and can explain what is being said. Truth about Touching FAQ. This is an important distinction. He is not opposed to children being taught about sexuality. He is opposed to children being taught sexuality about in Catholic schools, in a secular manner. He is also opposed to VIRTUS/Safe enviornment. There is a link on the site listed above which lists the concerns...... This is the short reason. I think that this is an absolute travesty and I think that we should all write to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis; c/o Archbishop Harry J. Flynn to voice our concern. Here is the address and email: Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis Most Reverend Harry J. Flynn 226 Summit Avenue Saint Paul, MN 55102 (651) 291-4400 communications@archspm.org

I ask only because, if not, perhaps you shouldn't speculate, since he did not make his reasons known, and this would be nothing more than speculation. We don't know all the facts.
