PedroX
PM Dust and ask for it. He didn't sound to happy about people getting the password from other people. peace...
Anna
No, not sin (neccessarily!), but I felt a little guilty announcing that I wanted to argue! Of course, without it I'd never get to see the good stuff from Don John and Donna. peace... ok, now I'm hurt. :sadder: I thought I ruled the Back Alley. And, I gave the password to my daughter, Ice Princess....See, I told ya, I grew up in the 70's and all that antidisestablishmentarianism stuff, it rubbed off.... My bad. Won't do it again. I'll think up some other way of causing trouble.... *Goes back to third cardboard box behind the dumpster on the left....* Pax Christi. <><
PedroX
Anna, In my mind you rule all of Phat Mass, and I just thought that was such a self evident fact that I tried to pull forward Don John and Donna so they could bask in the smallest amount of the light that normally shines on you! (is there a smiley for brown-nosing? Cause I certainly deserve it!) Also, I wasn't calling you out for giving Ice Princess the password, just telling Trachuoi to do it through normal channels. Not everybody can be as daring as you with the rules. Some of us have to worry about the warning levels. Oh, and scoot over I want to hide in the box too. peace... IcePrincessKRS
Yeah, it probably is better to ask dUSt himself for the password. Thats part of why I PMed him to let him know I had it, just to clear it before I went back there to create more havoc than is already there. He just told me to close my eyes at the bad parts. :P

DesiringMore
If more and more people are getting the password but some people are getting left out, one thought that comes to my mind is that it possibly is a place where you can go to talk about others and leave the ones you talk about out....not a very good idea, but why in the world would you want a back alley...especially just to be able to argue???...much less watch others argue?....why do people like to watch a good fight?? what good does it offer??? sorry, just thoughts that i probably should keep to myself... Kilroy the Ninja
Actually there is much good that can come of watching other argue. For instance, you might learn how to argue a particular point about something. Or it might give you some insight that you hadn't previously seen. Nobody likes to see these things turn ugly, but arguing just to argue isnt' a sin.
traichuoi
desiring more, arguing is not bad... if you study the early philosophers (well philosophy in general), it is based off the art of arguing. arguing back then is different from the arguing you are thinking of. an argument between philosophers always has two winners. the arguing you are thinking of has one winner and one loser. arguing should be for the sake of learning truth...that's why you have two winners in a true argument...there's no loser because you both leave the argument with greater knowledge. BLAZEr
In philosophy the good kind of "arguing" is usually called Disputation . . . Disputationes in Latin, if you're a PhiloPhreek

Actually the back alley is really intended for stuff that gets kinda raunchy like sex and lust threads,or some of the arguments might offend someone(but is needed) will get moved that way those who want to see it will ask for password and those who dont dont have to worry about it. Its really not that bad :saint:
Kilroy the Ninja
Well, I don't know about raunchy, I mean there was that one thread that was explicit, but not really raunchy. It's kind of an adult swim type place where adults can talk about their ideas on faith without worrying that a young'un will misinterpret. Or something like that. dUSt
The Back Alley is a place where charity doesn't exist. Name calling, arguing, debating about stuff that shouldn't even be up for debate--etc, etc. If you want to be involved with that, no big deal. Just PM me and I'll give you the password. It's not like a secret place where only certain members have access. As long as your 18 or over, you can enter (and the reason for the age limit is because there is the occasional talk about sex within marriage, etc). You're not really missing much though, and if you spent all your time in there, you'd probably think phatmass was a terrible, non-loving place. It's my solution for not having to censor. Most message boards would simply delete stuff--I just move it so it doesn't pollute the charitable atmosphere that I strive for with the rest of phatmass. I personally don't go in there often. It makes me feel like I have to go to confession afterwords. haha Make sense?
