but you can't just say "go brush your teeth" someone might be offended. i think that is a good example of when you want to pull someone aside and say "no offence, but you may want to brush your teeth"

I'm going to miss you too! I've met some wonderful people on line here. It's been so wonderful for me. And of course, I will pray for you. I make it a point to pray for those here that I've met on PM and those here who are discerning their vocation. . .I pray right at the moment of the Transubstantiation. Because I know He's most merciful then!

God bless you,

Denise

I used to manage a video store many moons ago. I actually gave one of my managers an anonymous gift basket, put it in his locker. It contained deodorant, tooth paste/tooth brush, and a comb! He would always come in like he'd slept in his car. and he smelled a little, errr... ripe. ~shrug~ so I ~ahem~ helped him out! LOL

Oh yes. I was on a ride along a few years ago with a local police dept. Guy was swerving a little, not driving the speed limit. . ..etc. Cop I was with pulled him over, went up to talk to him. When he came back to the car, he said. . .'dwa'. I blinked. Said, 'what the heck is dwa?' He looked at me like I should know better and said 'driving while asian'.

He even had 'dwo'. Driving while old.

Unbelievable. I said I hoped he didn't use that while talking on the radio.

Catholic Knight

Possibly, when one uses the term "no offense" they need to say something that could be the truth. The truth may be blunt and sometimes could be rude.

That's my take on it.

[quote name='Lil Red' date='Feb 20 2006, 02:54 PM']ever notice that when people start off a sentence or conversation with "no offense" usually what they are going to say is going to hurt or offend you?  why don't people just pray instead of saying something?
