Norseman82
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060209/film_nm/sandler_dc_1 Adam Sandler and Kevin James starring in an upcoming movie called "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" . The premise is that they are firemen who pretend to be gay in order to get domestic partnership benefits. Let's see, star Adam Sandler in "Brokeback Mountain meets Insurance Fraud" - sometimes you just have to laugh at the absurdity!
DemonSlayer
I haven't seen it, but there was a recent Australian film which has a similar premise as this starring Paul Hogan and Michael Caton called Strange Bedfellows.
Didacus
I wonder if they make fun of the absurdity of gay marriage or if they make fun of marraige's sanctity.... hmmmm... i wonder.

Laurentina1975
Yea. I think it's totally absurd. Totally mocks the sacred institution of marriage.
photosynthesis
I bet they're doing it for the gift registry. Married couples are so lucky, because they get to pick out all this stuff that they want, and people just buy it for them. We single people never get that. Why aren't people lining up to buy me All-Clad pots and pans? Or a crock-pot? Where's my free stuff? It's lame having to work hard so I can buy my own crock pot. Tata126
It'll be interesting to see the trailers, to see what sort of a spin they're putting on it. Of course it's going to be mocking domestic partnerships, but it will be interesting to see if it then supports traditional marriage. I can't imagine that it would, because I'm skeptical of Adam Sandler and the movies he makes, and I can't imagine him making a movie that would come out on the unpopular side of a huge moral debate... I would be ever so glad to be proven wrong, though.
jezic
there were two canadians that were not homosexual that got married for the tax benefits. THings like this bother me a little bit. They are just to strange.

YMNolan
I'm guessing the movie is going to end with some sappy, feel-good theme where Sandler's character develops a heart for the gay cause and realizes.. "we are all equals... blah blah blah... as long as they love each other they should get married". Or he might avoid the topic like the plague and just make a really funny movie about two clowns trying to cheat the system. i dunno.

Oh, and they'd convert to Catholicism after reading "Deus Caritas Est".
