I like CMS, but all I use are the chapters on punctuation, grammar, spelling, and the like.

(No citations in fiction, and I dare not get fancy with the typesetting if I don't want to be shunned at parties.)

We never used it in my department in college but for your thesis you could choose out of three styles MLA, CMS, and I can't remember. I was the only one to use CMS. My readers hardly knew what it was but it made me sooooooooooooooooooo happy. Love it, love it. MLA is the devil. I totally agree with jgirl, much much cleaner.

Now that I am done with the essay, I love the format. It is much clearer and easier to read then having ugly (Hey, LOOK AT ME, 1998, 15) in your essay. I like APA a lot still.
