I shouldn't include this but am going to.  This parish needs to be shut down.  This was in the St. Joan of Arc parish bulletin.

Here is the excerpt from the February 5th St. Joan of Arc Bulletin: World Marriage Sunday: Next Sunday, Feb. 12 is a celebration of World Marriage Sunday. On the 12th, we will have postcards available outside the gym entrances to send to MN state senators with your message regarding the proposed "Minnesota Marriage Amendment." Also, you are invited to attend a rally on the 12th sponsored by Catholics for Equality at 12:30 on the steps of the Cathedral. This is a peaceful rally prayerfully calling upon Archbishop Flynn to withdraw his support for the amendment.

Operative words on the postcards being “…with your message…” {italics added}

Diocesan priests don't have the same vows as a religious priest does, meaning they don't have vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. . .but they do have a vow of obedience to their bishop, don't they? I mean, come on, it's like a subordinate at work organizing a rally against the boss! That's just such a sad nature of today's world isn't it?

Our church is so incredibly neglected and maligned, and sometimes by its own members. :ohno:

So we get down on our knees and we pray, because 'these things are only ceased by prayer and fasting'.

Yours in Christ,

I found it in the pioneer depressed, I mean press. Sounds like about 150 gays showed up to protest outside. Some went in and when AB Flynn told married couples to stand up for a marriage blessing some of the gays stood up as well. :sadder:

Search for Flynn. It's the first article that comes up.

"Brian McNeill, a protester, said that by supporting the proposed amendment, Flynn "broke the long tradition of this archdiocese … to defend the civil rights of those who are marginalized in society.''

Ash Wednesday

In the end these protesters are to be more pitied than anything. They're fighting for a lost cause that will never happen.

What won't happen? Gay marriage? It's not at all unlikely. Oh you are right, they will never really be married. Not in God's eyes. but the sacrament will be undermined and degraded. :annoyed: And when my children grow up this will be a far different world. Currently in Norway anything goes. Multiple wives, multiple couples, multiple couples, you name it. There is no regulation as to who can get married. This is a serious battle.

What I don't understand is that if I were to join a club, I would join it because of what its values, mission statement, etc. stated. I wouldn't go in and try to change things. Because if that were my goal, why wouldn't I just either join a club that had what *I* wanted, or start my own club?

Similarly, on these very important issues, the Catholic Church has NOT ever changed. So, why do members, new or old, feel that we should change the way we do things? Why don't they instead go start their own church instead of trying to cause grief in one that doesn't have their beliefs? It just makes no sense. :idontknow:

And it, well it makes me just want to cry when I see just how far away they've strayed from Truth.

They make promises to their bishop, the main two being obedience and chastity.

Yes, and one day, our Lord will say 'enough'. I tremble and pray to see that day.

God bless you,

That's what I thought but I didn't want to open mouth and insert foot later.

Saying all that, that priest at St Joan, who put that in the bulletin was not showing his obedience. Not to his bishop nor to his Lord.
Oh, I'm sure that some people out there resembling a Catholic version of the Hitler Youth will call me "un-Catholic" for saying this, but I find the suggestions of implied "gay bashing" and calls to violent retaliation to be really out of line, and I honestly can't believe what I'm reading. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I am not sure how this kind of response is the way to go about making the situation any better.

No wonder people view the Church the way they do. Granted, some people take doctrine wrongly as a personal offense, but this kind of response seems to give opponents more to run on.

Jesus Christ drove the money changers out of the temple court with a whip for "turning His Father's House into a marketplace"!

How much more would Our Lord react againt those turning His House and Dwelling Place into a place of godless and evil political protest, while disrupting His Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass!!

Yet those who oppose this abomination are called "a Catholic version of the Hitler Youth."
Yeah, all us right-wingers are Nazis! (Very original slur <_< )

It truly makes me sad that so many "good Catholics" on here seem to have more sympathy for the "gay rights" movement than for those trying to drive this outrage out of the Church.
"Gay rights" seems to be the great sacred cow of our times.

There is a differance here!

You're NOT Jesus.

Rather, pray for them, set an example to them. Reveal Jesus to them. Jesus is the one who will change hearts not you. Offer personal sacrifice up in reparation for their crimes. Their sins are on their blood not yours.

If you were to hit them, you would only fuel their fire. "He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword".
17  These things I command you, that you love one another.
18 ¶ If the world hate you, know ye that it hath hated me before you.
19  If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20  Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.
21  But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake: because they know not him that sent me.
22  If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin.
Why is it we're only supposed to imitate Jesus when it comes to letting people walk over us or falsely accuse us?
