peacenluvbaby
http://www.nomoredeaths.org/HumanitarianAi...meCampaign.html Two volunteers with a faith-based program to prevent deaths of migrants in the Arizona deserts have been charged with felonies that could lead to 15 years in prison for attempting to transport 3 migrants who were in need of medical attention. Shanti and Daniel were bringing three migrants they had found in the desert to a hospital, because the men were massively dehydrated, one was vomiting and had bloody diarhea. On their way, the Border Patrol stopped them, arrested them and have now charged them with felonies. Their vehicle was marked as a "good samaritan" vehicle to indicate that they were not traffickers or anything, and their affiliation was known. Two of the men were immediately deported to Mexico without receiving treatment for the dehydration, blisters....etc. The third, who had been more sick than the other two was kept in US custody for a month as a witness and then deported. Helping people in need - giving them tools to survive or medical help is not a crime!!!!!!!! Peace out!
Cow of Shame
I can see the other side. If illegal immigrants know that they will get aid, assistance, & a free ride over the border if they are found in the desert in bad shape....how many do you think would get the idea to put themselves in just such danger to try to make it over here? I mean, once they get here, they'd always have a chance to slip away once they were feeling better. Some might say you'd be encouraging them to leap into those dangerous situations.... tojo
As there would be people out there in bad shape even if there was no help, I think we should err on the side of offerring humanitarian aid. It's the Christlike thing to do.
cmotherofpirl
If someone is injured you should not have to ask for a passport before you treat them. That is just wrong, and a violation of christian beliefs.
Era Might
The Bishops have spoken out against this, the criminilization of any aid to illegal immigrants.
avemaria40
I can't believe that would be illegal!
