The top story in Chicago Sunday was the escape of 6 inmates (including a convicted murderer) from Cook County jail. It turns out one of the guards helped them escape:

3 were caught (2 only a few miles from me) by Sunday night, but 3 of the escapees ended up hiding out in an apartment with 4-5 small children. Luckily the escapees surrendered without harming the children, otherwise that would have been an ugly hostage situation.

Perfect illustration of one of those "rare" circumstances where there is a gap in non-lethal means.

yep, human error will always play a roll in non-lethal means... as such they can never be so absolutely sufficient that the principal of capital punishment can never be used.

I am against the death penalty unless there is no other way to protect society. I believe in mercy and turn the other cheek and i believe that, unless it's necessary, the State has no power to end lives.
