Theologian in Training
ne one got tips for memorizing poems? i've got to memorize a sonnet for Brit Lit. Poor soul the centre of my sinful earth these rebel powers that thee array; Why dost thou pine within and suffer dearth, Painting thy outward walls so costly gay? Why so large the cost, having so short a lease, that all i got and i had to cheat on the last line and the puntuation. finals don't even start for me till Friday. :funeral: i don't know how much longer i can take my school!! I love poetry, have a BA in English, and most of my classes were poetry. I even used to write once upon a time. I found the best way to memorize a poem was to recite it slowly, let it really seep in, not only listen to the words, but let yourself be touched by them. If that happens, you don't force yourself to learn the poem, you want to memorize it because it has become so beautiful. Case in point: Once upon a midnight dreary while I pondered weak and weary, over a many forgotten lore. While I nodded nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. T'is some visitor I muttered, only this and nothing more....I could go on, but I will stop now Probably one of the most beautiful poems, very difficult to memorize given the cadence and language, is Pablo Neruda's "Tonight I can Write." Absolutely beautiful poem, not the easiest to memorize...I still don't have that one, despite the thousand times I have probably read it. I think all i have is: "Tonight I can write the saddest lines, write for example....blank Sorry for the tangent...been studying ecclesiology all night, needed a break. Theologian in Training
2 down, 2 to go. Man, thank God for Power Point, it has saved me yet again. I created another one for my ecclesiology exam, which I just had. I did well on that one too. I think I finally found a method that works incredibly well for me. Theologian in Training
Keep me in your prayers today. I have a Pastoral Psychology take home final that I have to write, and I have absolutely no motivation to write it. Granted, it will help in judging whether or not to send the person to a psychologist, but the stuff we had to read, coupled with the stuff we were taught, was about as fluffy as a pillow. Of course, there were times when we got stuff straight from the book, but the books we had to read were...eh. Pray for me now as I undertake this laborious task.
