Da Vinci Code

Fearful 1

Do you think it is wrong for me to read this book if it is a borrowed copy?
I am a Roman Catholic and am very strong in my faith. I have spent a lot of time in defense of the Catholic Church and have spent much time in the study of apologetics. I am interested in reading for myself what this is about. I'd like other people's opinions here on this...

Hmmmm.
Not knowing you at all really, only you can answer that. I find it to be a fairy tale type book. Too much fantasy around a few facts. If a church has a "odd" floor plan then the author's logic is that it must be a "map" of some sort.
Even the Discovery Channel tried to follow the authors logic and found him lacking, ya know.

If you really wish to read it, make sure you have the book that debunks his theories.

I have to say, as sick as I am of hearing and talking about this book, I am tempted to read it. If for nothing else but to be able to better argue against Brown's points. I mean, if I'm going to make a case against it I should probably read it first.

Then again, I really don't care all that much. There are about a million books I have on my "to read list" and I can never seem to take on the Da Vinci Code in place of something else.

So I'll probably never read it. :)

Piccoli Fiori JMJ

I hear that from a literary standpoint, it is terribly written...

But you sound like you won't be swayed by Mr. Brown's gobble-dee-gook... Just as long as you can find the fact apart from the fiction...

I read it.

I also offered my opinion on it on my xanga site here:
