It's a short article: File-destroying worm set to activate Friday

Make sure your anti-virus software is updated, scan your PC, and backup any irreplaceable files (such as personal photos, writings, home videos, artwork, etc) just incase.

Great... my computer already has a bug! Now I think I will stay off the net until my lappy gets reformatted and all safe again.

The Chinese government has hackers that put this stuff into the wild. It's their way of attacking us without attacking us. I've read a few reports on it and it appears that many of these type things come out of China or some other commie country

Heh.

IM, if you're interested, there is plenty of information around regarding virus writers, including convictions. They fit a very narrow demographic.

China has no need to hack the US. We use voluntarily use Microsoft...

(By "we" I, of course, mean "you guys" :P:)

I can't find the specific article that mentions it, but it did.

China's IT industry is booming. China was on a big hiring kick for Network Security people, specifically hackers a few months ago.

It is not a theory... it's a perception of what is happening.

:sadder:

It happens a lot as I re-edit sentences and forget a bit here or there.

I fixed it fairly quickly...

I don't doubt you about the Chinese hackers. (I'll read the articles when I get time.)

But hackers (specifically, "crackers") and virus/worm writers are completely different groups of people, with different goals.

As more people move to Mac, Mac will have more issues... with millions of lines of code, there will always be a hole.

I think the people who make these viruses are people that work ofr anti-virus agencies to sell more programs.

That's my conspiracy theory and I'm sticking to it!
