Do angels sing?

In art, angels are often depicted with musical instruments and/or singing. Does scripture indicate anywhere that angels sing? I haven't been able to find that they do anything but speak. They speak quietly and they cry out in loud voices but I can't find them singing anywhere.

Well the book that they are mentioned the most is probably Revelation. That would be a good place to start.

Excellent. Because we all know that when Phatcatholic looks, he finds! He's very Clouseau-like in that regard.

fwiw, I've looked quite a bit and focused on Revelation like you suggested, Paphnutius. It was in Revelation that I found the 'cry out in loud voices' reference.

Well I am getting the impression that it depends on the translation you use. For instance in Rev 5:11-12 a NRSV copy that I have says that the angels were singing, but I checked the Latin Vulgate and the latin reads "voce magna" meaning "great/loud voice." If I could read Greek I would offer that, but I think the point is that most of it is going to be saying in a loud voice. The best way to check would be to search the latin for "canto, cantare"

If I am not mistaken that comes from Isaiah. Here is the passage
6:3. And they cried one to another, and said: Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God of hosts, all the earth is full of his glory,
Et clamabant alter ad alterum et dicebant sanctus sanctus sanctus Dominus exercituum plena est omnis terra gloria eius
The Latin clamabant means they were shouting (crieng out), and dicebant is they were speaking.
