Chivalry is Dead

Yes, they're all about getting what you can without working for it...

I don't really think that, but it was there and I had to say it.. :)

Chivalry isn't dead, but I think a lot of women don't require it of men, and those men won't do more than they need to. So they get used to not needing to respect others like that.

Still, it was a really small offense. You might chastise him GENTLY with CHARITY to keep others in mind in another situation like that, but it's not that bad to just deal with it, either. Might be more charitable too...if he shows more signs of being that way, then point it out to him gently. But it might've been a one-time thing. No reason to vent your spleen.

That he was being un-Christian? Eh, who knows. I don't think name calling after a mild courtesy offense is the solution, though. Maybe a "Hey! C'mon, man....I was waiting here in line." might have a better chance than
"How un-Christian! Unhand that delicious helping of lasagna, you cad!" ...it'll probably just result in you getting flipped off.

He was about first in the food line, with a lot of ladies behind him.

Theologian in Training

I only say this, because I am guilty of the same thing, but is it being chivalrous, by coming here, speaking about how chivalrous you were, and how un-chivalrous he was to you?

Perhaps, the greatest knight is the one who uses an opportunity like this to learn humility, or if not, the one with a sharp sword who can make sure it never happens again ;)

Venting a spleen? I can see how that would be undesireable, with all those things you'd just filtered out of your blood leaking back out again.

This brought me joy, thank you.

No, I'm probably being being 100% chivalrous by coming here. But that, guy should how gone to the back of the line in the first place, and then not cutting in front of me.

I hardly think this would be worth commenting on more than 5 minutes after the event occurred. Since you had enough time to come back and post this on phatmass, it's definitely not worth bringing it back up.

Also, we should always make an effort to think well of others, even making up excuses in our head for them. Who knows, maybe he hadn't eaten anything all day and was really hungry, and simply had lasagna on the brain other than chivalry - it happens to us all occasionally.
