Frankcdnj
I do not know if many others see there church more crowded than usual. It is the twice a year Catholics, Christmas and Easter church goers. I have the belief it would take armageddon to have them stop in any other time. What a shame! But as the good book says, "Will there be any faith when the Lord returns?"
lilac_angel
Yeah, Church was *packed* last night. It was kind of nice to see...but I didn't know that churches normally got more crowded around Advent.. that's news to me... hmph. One can only hope at least a few more people will continue to go. Lil Red
I guess all you can do is pray that after these seasons they like it more and more and keep coming.
the_rev
That reminds me of a joke here it is: One day a priest was telling to a guy after the Christmas liturgy that he should join the army of the Lord, the man responded, I am in the army, then the preiest responded, then why do I see you only around Christmas and Easter, and he said becaue I'm in the secret Service. Anyways, Yes you are right about that, we barely manage 150-200 peole per the 3 massess on the weekend, but on Christmas and Easter we fit 500 crammed bodies into the church! (Our church can only hold 400) So we set up fold up chairs everywhere and open up the choir loft!
VeraMaria
I guess all you can do is pray that after these seasons they like it more and more and keep coming. yeah.... one of the girls in my youth group was telling us last week about how her parents were twice a year catholics, and they went to Church one Advent, and something just clicked, they felt it made their week complete and more meaningful, and after christmas, they kept going, and actually ANTICIPATED it!! Now they go every week and their children have been baptized and have made their first communions and confirmations, and they';re very active in the parisjh!! Things DO happen!! :D

the_rev
Pray with this prayer that I'm gonna write off the top of my head! Father God, our creator, you created us to serve you, but sometimes we dont' serve you the way you want us to do, because of the free will you gave us. Lord bring your sheep back to their flock the Catholic church. Help those two times a year goers realize they are missing out on the biggest miracle of all times, the Eucharist. Lord, may they realize that, so you will bring them back. Heavenly father, renew us in our faith, and help us each and every day, as now we pray for those two timers a year to church, In God's Name, AMEN

foundsheep
It fun to see old friends that do that. Ill tell some of not to sit next to me, I dont want the lightning to strike me to. Then we laugh ,hug and enjoy mass together. After i invite them to come back as much as possible, I say the Lords open 24-7.
jmjtina
Last year, a married couple who just became Catholic asked after Ash Wednesday Mass, "What is going on?" when they came into Mass. They were shocked because the Church was so packed that ppl were standing in the back and to the sides. We laughed and said, everyone comes to this Mass (funny, it's not even a Holy Day of Obligation) and midnight Mass. Those are the two Masses EVERYONE comes to. We'll keep praying so the house can be packed year round!
